Holder of a master's degree in Contemporary History of the Maghreb-Arab World at the University of Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne and a master's degree in political science at Sciences Po Aix-en-Provence, Lamia Mellal has worked on the teaching of Nakba in bilingual schools called "for peace" in Israel/Palestine. At the same time, between 2018 and 2021, she was responsible for the scientific and administrative coordination of the ERC HornEast project led by historian Julien Loiseau at IREMAM (Institute for Research and Studies on the Arab and Muslim Worlds). Currently, she is starting an interdisciplinary doctoral thesis in political science and anthropology under the supervision of Nadia Fadil at the Katholieke Universiteit te Leuven (KUL) and Abdellali Hajjat at the Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB). Her thesis seeks to question the articulation between so-called "anti-radicalization" policies and educational policies in France and more specifically in Marseille. Indeed, she will analyze, thanks to an ethnographic approach, the consequences of these security policies on the educational institution by studying, in particular, the discourses and practices of the actors who compose it: school directors, teachers, students, and their families.
